Our educated and compassionate team is dedicated to the well being of the pets in our community at South Branch Veterinary Services in Hunterdon County! 

It is our joy to provide exceptional veterinary care for your dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, hamsters, and more!  Our awesome team consists of knowledgeable veterinary assistants, led by a certified veterinary technician, courteous client service representatives, and two compassionate doctors on staff to care for you and your pets.

Dr. Elizabeth Pope

Dr. Elizabeth Pope grew up in NJ with the dream of pursuing a career caring for animals. She is a graduate of Oklahoma State University, Center for Veterinary Health Sciences where she met her husband, Nick, a fellow veterinarian. After graduation they returned to the garden state and they reside in Hunterdon County with their two spoiled dogs, Eloise and Brody, & a small herd of cows, goats, and chickens. She treats small animals and has a personal interest in internal medicine, rescue work, preventative care and oncology.


Dr. Rachael Gordon

Dr. Rachael Gordon was raised in New Jersey and is a graduate of Rutgers University. She attended the College of Veterinary Medicine in Dublin, Ireland and there received her Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine. She managed her own veterinary hospital in Ireland and served on the board of the Veterinary Ireland Companion Animal Society. She has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 15 years and—along with cats and dogs—treats exotics and birds. Dr. Gordon is particularly involved with Portuguese Water Dogs; along with breeding, she also shows and does agility with her family of dogs.

Dr. Catherine Rotsides

Dr. Catherine Rotsides was born and raised in Morristown where her love for animals began.  She attended Stevens Institute of Technology where she graduated with an undergraduate degree in chemical biology before continuing onto veterinary school.  She attended veterinary school at St. George’s University in Grenada and then completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Garden State Veterinary Specialists.  She stayed on as an emergency doctor for 2 years then continued her emergency career to a hospital in Westfield before joining the South Branch Family.  Dr. Rotsides has a special interest in cardiology, surgery and emergency medicine.  In her spare time she has a passion for soccer and traveling. She also enjoys spending time at home with her husband, son and two ninja cats Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee.

Diana Buhl
Certified Veterinary Technician

Diana, a graduate certified veterinary technician, has been with South Branch since 2007 and is our Head Veterinary Technician. She is a graduate of the Veterinary Technical Institute in Pennsylvania and holds a B.A. from Boston University. Diana has over ten years experience in small animal hospitals and emergency and surgical veterinary medicine. Diana lives nearby with her husband and their dog and cat.

Matthew Klitsch
Certified Veterinary Technician

Matt joined our team in 2013 and comes from a diverse background of working with animals. He spent six years as a lead-volunteer with a local wildlife rehabilitator. Matt also worked in a local animal shelter as an animal care technician and is a NJ certified animal control officer. Matt holds a B.A. from Montclair State University, an M.F.A. from Drew University, and an A.S. in Veterinary Technology from Penn Foster. He lives in Hunterdon County with his cat and rat (Celes and Locke, respectively).

Maria O’Connell
Veterinary Assistant

Maria joined the South Branch team in 2012. She comes from a background working for several years in a feline specialized veterinary practice in Connecticut. Maria also has prior experience working around wildlife, farm animals, and even spent a short term working at a zoo. Over the years, she has cared for a variety of both domestic and exotic pets of her own. Maria lives in Hunterdon County.

Caroline Upwood
Veterinary Assistant

Caroline is a graduate from Rutgers with a BS in Animal Science and a minor in equine science with a Pre-Vet concentration.  During her time at Rutgers she was a Mounted Patrol Officer, lived with Seeing Eye puppies in training, and rode at IHSA Nationals during her senior year.  She has spent summers working at small animal veterinary clinics and volunteering at a wildlife refuge.  She lives in Hunterdon Country with her family and her horse, Toby. 

Samantha Whitmore
Veterinary Assistant

Samantha is one of our veterinary assistants and has been a member of our team since 2011. She has experience working with a wide variety of exotics; including lizards, frogs, rodents, ferrets, and chinchillas. She has previously volunteered in a local animal shelter and spent a summer working with equines at a riding camp. Samantha lives nearby with her beloved rabbits: Chicken Nugget and Waffles.  

Olivia Wismer
Veterinary Assistant

Olivia joined the South Branch team in 2013 with many years of prior experience working in a small animal veterinary practice.  Olivia studied pre-veterinary science at Hunterdon County Polytech adn was a member of Hunterdon Hoppers 4H Club.  Olivia has a particular interest in rabbits and has been raising them since she was 13 years old.  She lives in Hunterdon County with her cat Maddie.

Diane Fitzpatrick
Client Service Representative

Diane, one of our client service representatives, brings a great deal of invaluable experience to the South Branch team.  She holds a B.S. in Animal Science from Rutgers University and spent over 15 years working in that field. Along with working as an emergency veterinary assistant, Diane is also a professional sheep shearer and farm manager. She lives nearby with her dog, cat, amazon parrot, 2 horses, and flock of sheep.

Brittany Sulpy
Client Service Representative

Brittany has a lifelong love of animals and spends her free time with dogs, cats, horses, and chickens.  When not working, Brittany volunteers as an EMT working with her local fire/ems agency.  She resides in Hunterdon County with her husband, Dave, and German Shepherd, Bruno.
